Melatonin is a substance that helps your body understand when it’s time to sleep and wake up. Your body naturally produces more melatonin starting in the evening after sunset. That’s a way of indicating that you’re approaching bedtime.

Melatonin levels start to go down after sunrise, but there are various factors that can prevent your body from producing an optimum amount.

One of the biggest factors is the amount of light you’re exposed to. Studies suggest turning off screens at least two hours before bed to get optimum sleep but with lockdowns and work from home that’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

The reality is that with all the excessive screen time in our lives, we struggle to get adequate sleep. That’s where fast-acting Melatonin products like Lively make such a big difference.

A 2017 study, titled Melatonin: Pharmacology, Functions and Therapeutic Benefits aimed to analyze the benefits of fast-acting melatonin doses. What it found was eye-opening: not only does melatonin assist with stabilizing the circadian rhythm, it’s proven to have a positive effect on tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and psychiatric disorders as well as neurological diseases.

Inhaling melatonin is your way of gently indicating to your body that it’s time to go to bed. It can also be used to help solve sleep problems as a result of shift work and jet lag.

Lavender’s use as a herbal treatment dates back to 13th century Europe when it was first introduced in the Mediterranean region. “Research shows particular promise in Lavender’s ability to relieve stress, stabilize your mood and improve sleep,” says Rupinder Mangat, co-founder and CEO, MEVEI, a New York-based company.

A 2013 study found that Lavender has a variety of therapeutic and curative properties, such as inducing relaxation. Another one conducted in 2015, titled “Effect of Inhaled Lavender and Sleep Hygiene on Self-Reported Sleep Issues” analyzed 79 college students with reported sleep issues. They were broken up into a control group and an experimental group; the group that took lavender had better sleep quality and woke up feeling refreshed.

2020 research confirms these findings. The study, titled “Comparing the effect of aromatherapy with peppermint and lavender on the sleep quality of cardiac patients” found that aromatherapy diffusers with lavender can improve sleep quality significantly.

Chamomile is one of the most ancient medicinal herbs known to humans. A 2011 study, titled: “Chamomile: A herbal medicine of the past with bright future” stated that “inhalation of the vaporized essential oils derived from chamomile flowers is recommended to relieve anxiety and general depression.”

It added that chamomile has been frequently used as a mild sedative to reduce anxiety, treat insomnia and other sleep problems.

Chamomile is one of the most widely used therapies for promoting sleep and treating insomnia. The active ingredients in chamomile are chamazulene, apigenin, and bisabolol and its sedative effects may be due to a benzodiazepine-like compound in the flower head, according to researchers Janmejai K. Srivastav and Sanjay Gupta, in their book “Foods and Dietary Supplements in the Prevention and Treatment of Disease in Older Adults, 2015”.

Another positive effect of Chamomile is a 29% decrease in mortality rates, according to a 2014 study.

“I woke up feeling rested. Usually when I take Melatonin spray I have an extremely hard time waking up & getting out of bed. With Lively this was not the case, quite the opposite actually. I will definitely consider purchasing another one after this one runs out. Overall I'd give this an A.”
Mike Wiseman
“I’ve struggled with sleep for the past couple of years and I’ve tried a number of solutions such as sleeping apps and soothing candles, but nothing seemed to work. I was skeptical when I tried Lively, but it’s worked far better than I expected it to. I go to sleep within minutes and I wake up feeling like a new person.”
Brittney Howard
"I've been trying it out the last two weeks since I've been needing some good rest. Great product, good choice of flavour and works great! You definitely have my vote."
